BUILDING THE INDUSTRY: Mentoring Women & P11creative
At P11creative, we believe people power everything we do. Mentorship isn’t just helpful — it’s transformative. P11’s Jasvina Gill and Kendall Carre have been mentors in the marketing and real estate industry for decades. Recently, they created the first Multifamily Summer Soiree event graciously hosted by our client, Lisa Cabral, from MBK Rental Living at their community, Zia Apartments in Anaheim, CA. (Side note: Currently, P11 is creating exciting and result-driven digital marketing for MBK and their management company, Greystar. Stay tuned for more details on that in a future post.)
In addition, P11 CO-CEO Jasvina Gill is the permanent host of the acclaimed Barbara J. Stewart Coffee Chat, which regularly helps shape the lives of young professionals with the help of prestigious B.J. Stewart Award honorees. “It’s so easy to get caught up in the daily grind and feel isolated in our own careers, especially in a tough real estate market. I love that such a smart, thoughtful, and talented circle of women comes together to share, support, and lift each other up through the good and bad. I left our time together feeling truly inspired and reenergized,” stated June’s speaker, Michelle Thrakulchavee, Managing Director | Acquisitions & Development at City Ventures, LLC.
HOW THE MULTIFAMILY AND REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY BENEFITSWhen women rise in marketing and multifamily, the industry improves:• Messaging becomes more inclusive, empathetic, and human.• Communities better reflect the diverse needs of renters and homeowners.• Companies foster cultures that attract and retain top talent by supporting diverse voices.• Leading to stronger business performance, enhanced creativity, and more vibrant communities.
WHY WOMEN’S MENTORSHIP MATTERSMentorship for women goes beyond professional guidance. It involves:• Creating space: Elevating underrepresented voices.• Demonstrating leadership: Leading with strength and empathy.• Navigating nuances: Addressing gender dynamics in boardrooms, construction sites, and strategic meetings.
WHAT WE’VE LEARNED AT P11CREATIVEOver the years, at P11, we've been both mentees and mentors, learning that honesty, support, and authenticity are key. Here’s our advice for new mentors.• Lead with listening to understand each person’s unique journey, goals, and challenges.• Share your struggles along with successes to inspire resilience and authenticity.• Normalize ambition by encouraging women to lead, assert themselves, and seek equity.• Introduce them to your network—one connection can transform a career.
LET’S KEEP BUILDING UPWhether you’re a seasoned marketing director, a property developer or manager, a sales or leasing expert, an architect, an asset manager, a designer, or a strategist like those of us here at P11, you have something worth passing on. The future of our industry isn’t just about innovation — it’s about you. It’s about all of us, rising together.
